About.
In today’s leather goods market, choice has become increasingly polarized.
At one end, heritage houses have pushed prices to unprecedented heights.
At the other, mass-market brands flood the industry with low-cost, mass-produced goods.
Between these two extremes, a significant gap remains.
DESTAAL was created to occupy that space.
We set out to build what we could not find — a leather goods house rooted in restraint, technical precision, and uncompromising material standards.
A product defined not by logos, but by exceptional quality and timeless design.
Crafted without compromise — priced without excess.
Each piece is developed in Tuscany using some of the finest leathers available and raw stainless steel hardware. Balanced proportions, considered construction, and long-term durability guide every decision — resulting in objects designed to endure beyond season or trend.
Production is intentionally limited. Releases take place in controlled drops, allowing focused development, reduced waste, and a more deliberate approach to consumption.
The aesthetic is understated and gender-neutral, conceived to integrate effortlessly into a refined wardrobe.
Headquartered in the Netherlands and produced in Italy, DESTAAL operates independently through a direct relationship with its clients. This structure allows investment to remain focused on materials and craftsmanship rather than intermediaries or retail markups.
DESTAAL was founded by Alessandro De Pretis, a leather goods specialist with more than a decade of experience within the luxury industry. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with leading designers, tanneries, and manufacturing partners in Italy and abroad, overseeing every stage of leather goods creation — from initial design development to sourcing, construction, and final production.
That experience informs every aspect of the house — from construction methods and material selection to the uncompromising standards applied to each component.
After years inside the system, the intention was clear: to create accessories built on his own terms — where quality, functionality, and design are never negotiated.
