What is Destaal?

DESTAAL is an independent leather goods brand, headquartered in the Netherlands and producing exclusively in Italy. All products are original designs developed and manufactured under the DESTAAL trademark, registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Where are DESTAAL products made?

All DESTAAL products are made in Tuscany, Italy, by Tivoli Group S.p.A., an established leather goods manufacturer operating since 1981, certified under SA8000 and ISO 14001 standards.

Who is behind DESTAAL?

DESTAAL was founded by Alessandro De Pretis, a leather goods specialist with more than a decade of experience in the business in Italy and abroad.

Orders and Pre-order

What is a pre-order?

A pre-order allows you to reserve your bag while it is still in production, before it becomes available for immediate purchase. DESTAAL operates a limited drop model — each style is produced in small, controlled quantities, allowing us to avoid overproduction and minimise waste.

When will my pre-order be shipped?

The City Flap Bag is currently in production at our manufacturing partner in Tuscany, Italy. Estimated shipping is June 2026. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email immediately. A second email with tracking details will be sent as soon as your order is dispatched. In the event of production delays, customers will be promptly informed and retain the right to a full refund at any time prior to dispatch.

Can I amend my order after placing it?

Once an order is confirmed, we are generally unable to amend it. If you need assistance, please contact us as soon as possible at info@destaal.com

Is my payment processed immediately?

Yes, payment is processed at the time of purchase. If for any reason your order cannot be fulfilled, you will receive a full refund.

Can I cancel my pre-order?

Yes. You can cancel your pre-order at any time before dispatch by contacting us at info@destaal.com
A full refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express and UnionPay, as well as Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All transactions on our website are processed through Shopify's secure payment system, which uses industry-standard SSL encryption to protect your personal and payment information.

Why was my payment declined?

Why haven't I received a confirmation email after placing my order?

Shipping

Where do you ship?

DESTAAL currently ships to the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

How long does delivery take?

Complimentary standard delivery (3–7 business days) is included on all orders to the countries listed above. Express delivery (1–2 business days) is available at checkout at an additional cost of €20. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days from the date of purchase. For pre-order items, the estimated shipping timeframe is clearly stated on the product page prior to purchase. For the City Flap Bag, estimated shipping is June 2026.

How can I track my order?

Once your order has been handed to the carrier, you will receive a confirmation email with your tracking details. You can use this information to follow your shipment at any time.

Do you ship to countries outside the ones listed above?

We do not currently offer standard shipping outside the countries listed above. If you are located outside these countries and wish to place an order, please contact us at info@destaal.com and we will do our best to assist you.

Returns

What is your return policy?

If you wish to return a product, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order at info@destaal.com
Upon confirmation, we will provide a return shipping label. Return shipping is partially covered by DESTAAL — a fixed fee of €20 will be deducted from your refund to contribute to return shipping costs. Returned items must be in perfect condition, unused, and in their original packaging. Products that show signs of wear, damage, or alteration may be refused and returned to the sender at their expense. Please ensure the outer box is securely sealed with tape before shipping. Returns shipped without prior authorization or without using the provided return label cannot be accepted. Once your return has been received and approved, you will receive a confirmation email.

How do I initiate a return?

Simply contact us at info@destaal.com within 14 days of receiving your order. Please include your order number and the reason for your return. We will confirm your request and provide a return shipping label along with instructions on how to package and send your item back to us.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return has been received and approved, you will receive a confirmation email. Your refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days. Please note that processing times may vary depending on your payment provider.

Product

What leather is used for the City Flap Bag?

Our Texas box calf is sourced from Tanneries Haas in France, founded in 1842 and widely recognized for its exceptional leathers. The lamb nappa lining is produced by Pellican, a specialized tannery based in Florence, selected for its expertise in fine aniline-dyed skins. Both suppliers are certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG). The calves and lambs are raised in France, and all hides are byproducts of the food industry. Only the highest-quality raw skins are selected, allowing for a light and transparent finishing that preserves the natural beauty of the leather.

What hardware is used?

DESTAAL uses exclusively surgical-grade stainless steel (AISI 316L) for all hardware components. Developed in collaboration with Riri — the Swiss manufacturer of fine closures since 1936 — the magnetic snap is produced at their facility in Padua, Italy. The buckle and rectangular rings are custom-designed and CNC-machined in Florence by Elleci Prodotto, a specialist metal manufacturer operating since 1969. Unlike plated brass, stainless steel requires no galvanic coatings and contains no lead. Left raw and polished, it represents a more sustainable choice — avoiding harmful chemicals and reducing atmospheric emissions and water consumption.

Where is the City Flap Bag manufactured?

Development and production take place at Tivoli Group, an established leather goods manufacturer based in Florence, operating since 1981. Located in the heart of Tuscany's renowned leather district, the facility operates to the highest technical standards. Each City Flap Bag is assembled by skilled artisans whose expertise reflects decades of experience in leather goods manufacturing. Tivoli Group is certified under internationally recognized social and environmental standards, including SA8000 and ISO 14001 — safeguarding fair working conditions and responsible environmental management.

How do I care for my bag?

DESTAAL leather goods are crafted from the finest skins selected for their quality and character. Each hide is unique — subtle tonal variations, veins, and small markings are natural features of the material and should not be considered imperfections. To ensure your bag ages beautifully, protect it from humidity and avoid contact with water, hand cream, hand sanitizer, make-up, perfume, and other liquids. Box calfskin in particular should be kept away from rain, as exposure to water may cause the surface to blister. If the leather comes into contact with moisture, gently dab it immediately with a soft, dry, light-colored cloth and allow it to dry naturally, away from direct heat sources. Do not rub and do not use a hairdryer or heater. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and keep the bag away from radiators or other sources of heat. Take care not to rub it against coarse or abrasive surfaces. Light surface scratches may soften if gently massaged with a clean, dry cloth. Over time, box calfskin develops a subtle patina — as the leather wears in, minor scratches tend to blend into the surface, becoming less visible and contributing to the character of the piece. When not in use, store your bag in its dust bag in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment. Avoid excessive heat, humidity, or storage in plastic. With proper care, the leather will age gracefully and become uniquely yours.
